PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Assistant Driver will be responsible for the driving of Wutow’s own fleet of trucks and will do the loading and off-loading of products to clients. To ensure timeous, safe, and break-free deliveries, and to ensure that the trip documentation is dealt with according to procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA:

• Delivery of cargo in Windhoek and surrounding areas when required to the client’s premises.
• Responsible for checking of cargo upon departure from Wutow’s premises and off-loading at clients’ premises.
• Deal with clients and customers on a regular basis.
• Assist with the loading and the off-loading of the truck.
• Adhere to the company policy and procedure regarding safe driving practice.
• Adhere to traffic rules for the safety of yourself and the population at large.
• Manage vehicle fuel economy through applying sound driving skills and Techniques.
• Receive and handle return loads from clients according to the return policy and procedures.
• Doing daily checks on the trucks about tyre pressure, brakes, lights, etc.
• Overseeing the day-to-day maintenance of the trucks by keeping it clean and properly maintained.
• Report any defects to the trucks immediately to the responsible person.
• Take care of company equipment and property, such as pallet jacks, etc.
• Follow the company policy and procedure regarding returning of CHEP pallets to the Depot.
• Portray the image of the Company by always being neat and professional.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures of the Company.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12.
• At least three (3) years’ experience as a driver or assistant driver.
• C1 driver’s license.
